Boston Tea Party Ship & MuseumBOSTON, MASSACHUSETTS
The Boston Tea Party forever changed the course of America History more than two centuries ago when it started an American Revolution. The Tea Party vessels are the Brig Beaver and Eleanor ships. You’ll experience what it was like aboard a ship in the 18th century in the very same body of water where the Boston Tea Party took place. |
Once on board, the “Meeting House” will take you back in time to the rebellious 1773 Bostonian era. A delightful reenactment takes place by Samuel Adams who will be your host for the tour.
You’ll be able to check out the open air deck Griffin’s Wharf where you’ll meet the Sons and Daughters of Liberty as you begin learning about the Boston Tea Party itself.
You’ll experience a 3D reenactment of the debate that caused all the chaos on Griffins Wharf on the morning following the Boston Tea Party.
Probably one of the most precious pieces you’ll see onboard is the Robinson Tea Chest which has been protected and preserved as the only known surviving tea chest from the Boston Tea Party of 1773. You will experience the history of the chest where it began in China, to Boston, and then was handed down over the generations. It now rest on the Boston Tea Party Ships & Museum as a permanent fixture in the collection of Historic Tours of America, Inc.
The Minuteman Theatre depicts the events of April 19, 1775. This Award Winning Documentary depicts Paul Revere’s famous “Midnight Ride” and thus the beginning of the American Revolution.
Just a mere 16 months after the tea was destroyed in the harbor, militiamen gathered on Lexington Green as the legendary “Shot heard around the world” was fired. You’ll feel as if you’re right in the middle of all the action with the panoramic screen. You’ll hear and feel horses galloping, muskets firing, and soldiers marching as they stand against the British Regulars.
When the tour is finished, be sure and stop by Abigail’s Tea Room for a spot of 5 different teas that were thrown overboard during the Boston Tea Party. They also sell delicious sandwiches, chowder, cookies, and scones. And finally, make the Gift Shop your last stop and carry home a bit of history with an American Revolution souvenir from the Boston Tea Party.
