- The tower was erected in 1976 by Canadian National who’s goal was to build a tower that was taller than any other tower in the world. With 1,537 workers who labored 24 hours a day, five days a week for a 40 month time period to bring it to completion. The tower reaches a height of 1,815 feet and 5 inches tall.
- The tower has a restaurant called 360 The Restaurant at the CN Tower located at the at the top where you can have an unforgettable dining experience. Included in the restaurant is a state of the art 9,000 bottle wine cellar making it the World’s Highest Wine Cellar by Guinness in 2006. The restaurant has won numerous awards over the years for its cuisine, wine and ambiance as a fine dining establishment.
- Over the years, the tower has gone through several upgrade transformations. In 2006, a new 1,100 sq ft meeting and event space was added to the base of the tower.
- Every night, the tower lights up the Toronto sky with beautiful cost effective LED exterior lighting that illuminates the city’s skyline.
- In 1986, the world’s first flight simulator ride was launched at the the CN tower called the Tour of the Universe.
- The tower introduced the world’s highest glass floor paneled elevator in 2008. It’s one of the towers six glass fronted elevators that gives viewers a whole new perspective. The tower’s elevators can take guests from the base to the top in
- 58 seconds making it National Geographic’s World’s Top 10 Elevator Rides.
- A 3D theatre was also added in 2010 as another thrilling experience of the tower.
- As if the tower’s offerings weren’t already enough, in 2011 they introduced the Edge Walk, the world’s highest full circle hands-free walk on a 5 foot wide ledge that goes around the top of the tower’s main pod. This thrilling experience is truly one of the world’s great man made wonders and a real must see!
