Queen Victoria Park which is bounded by the steep Fallsview moraine and the Niagara River Great Gorge is a beautiful collection of native and international plants. In addition you will find a gorgeous array of freshly maintained gardens. There is also a rock garden, hanging baskets, Hybrid teas rose garden and neat carpet bedding design displays to see. |
As you stroll through the park take an opportunity to rest up on one of the park benches or take photos of the nearby immaculate groomed lawns and gardens. The park is known for their exceptional display of daffodils and roses when in season.
Prior to 1888 the park was originally part of the upper Niagara River bed. It wasn’t until the 19th century that active settlers begin to dwell in this area. During their winter months, the annual Festival of Lights display is a big draw to the park as well.
The park is operated by the Niagara Parks Commission and admission to the park is free. There is parking available at Clifton Hill parking lot just a 5 minute walk away. The Niagara Falls Park also has 4 other areas of interest, the Floral Showhouse, Floral Clock, the Greenhouse, and the Oakes Garden.
The Floral Showhouse where they hold 8 annual floral shows each year. Its full of beautiful mums and other flower varieties.
Located 1.5 miles north of the park is the Floral Clock which is changed out twice a season. This is a one of a kind photo op you’ll definitely want to take advantage of.
The Greenhouse located just 1/4 mi south of of Horsehoe Falls is the featured area for the Festival of Lights. Flying tropical birds are just a few the items you’ll see in the Greenhouse.
Your trip to the park will be rounded out with Oaks Garden. This fan-shaped feature has a stage and the falls form a backdrop for this lovely setting.
