Safari NiagaraNEAR NIAGARA FALLS, ONTARIO, CANADA
When cruising the Great Lakes, Safari Niagara is one of the very best attractions you can take advantage of when cruising Niagara Falls, Ontario. The nature park is a 150 acre privately owned safari and its home to over 1000 native and exotic mammals, birds, and reptiles. The park also has a splash pad, gator express tram, paddle boats, catch and release fishing, Skyquest rope course, carousel, bounce a rooz, and a children’s play area. |
The park offers several behind the scenes tours like the giraffe experience where you can get an up close and personal glimpse of this iconic species. You can also be a Jr. Zookeeper for the day, explore the lions with a face to face look, and the rhino experience where you’ll stand next to a southern white and Indian rhinoceros. The park often has live concerts and special events.
The safari park was born from a small seed of an idea by the late Stephen J. Tykolis in the 1950’s. Stephen retired in 1990 from his family business and decided to start up a small hobby farm with domestic animals. In 1992, Stephen passed away and so 3 of his 7 children decided to pick up where he left off and run the business. In their dads honor they built a small scale public zoo with all kinds of birds and furry animals. It was a big hit with the community and so they grew rapidly and began to include more exotic animals like primates and reptiles. Over time, they had expanded to a large variety of animals and became a full on zoological facility. Planning was then started on a master planned facility that would be built in phases and by May 18, 2002, the first of those phases was complete. By 2009, the facility had evolved into “Safari Niagara”.
