Sylvan Beach Amusement Park

SYLVAN BEACH, NEW YORK 

Sylvan Beach NY is home to the Sylvan Beach Amusement Park.  The park has a rich history dating back to the 1870’s.  It has restaurants, shops, an amusement park, beach, entertainment and more. 

The Park has numerous rides like the Himalaya, Bumper Boats and Cars, Scrambler, Galaxi Coaster and more.  There’s mini golf, a super slide, and the park has its own Kiddieland with 10 kid sized rides.  The park also has an arcade, a sports area with basketball, bowler roller and gun ball.  There are plenty of fun games like shooting waters, shoot out the star, boom ball, pitch till you win, frog bog, and more. 

Be sure and visit their summer shop for all the latest gifts.  No trip to the park would be complete without some carnival style food.  There is cotton candy, burgers and floats, hotdogs and ice ream, milkshakes, funnel cakes and more.  So there is everything you can imagine at the park.  In 2014 there were some strange events that occurred at the park.  Park participants witnessed coins and pieces of wood were flying through the air and then hitting the floor.  The claims were followed up by the park leaving recording devices the the area but very little evidence transpired.  On another occasion someone noticed a dark colored object fall from the air by the air hockey table.  It seemed to be full of coins but when it hit the floor they could only hear 1 coin.  So they went over towards the air hockey table but there was no sign of any container or coins.  The park staff began speaking to some of the old timers in the area and learned that the former park owner used to collect the coins in a canvas bag with a metal coil to support the bag in an open position.  One of old timers retrieved a bag that was just like that which was what someone had seen fall over the air hockey table.  Creepy things like this continued to happen over the years.  The park does Park After Dark Tours of the Haunted Grounds during the Halloween weekend dates.
